Editorial Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
RoofWise Guide publishes roofing cost research, calculators, and homeowner education. This page explains who writes that material, how it is checked, and what to do when you think something is wrong.
Who writes our content
Our guides are produced by an in-house editorial team with hands-on roofing and roofing sales experience, working with licensed contractors and insurance-claim specialists for technical review. Pricing content is built from contractor quotes, manufacturer specifications, permit-fee schedules, and published industry cost surveys โ not from scraped or spun articles.
How we research cost figures
- Baseline data. National material and labor ranges are compiled from manufacturer price lists, supplier quotes, and public industry cost reporting.
- Regional adjustment. State and metro figures apply documented labor, permit, and material-freight differences to that baseline.
- Ranges, not promises. Every estimate is presented as a range with the assumptions shown. Our numbers are educational โ they are never a bid, quote, or appraisal.
Fact-checking and review
Before publication, every article is checked for factual accuracy, code and manufacturer references, and clarity for a non-technical homeowner. Claims about warranties, building code, or insurance are traced back to the manufacturer, code body, or carrier language they come from. Articles covering insurance claims carry an additional compliance disclaimer because public-adjusting rules vary by state.
Updates and corrections
Cost pages are reviewed at least annually and whenever material prices shift significantly. Guides are revised when code, product lines, or best practices change. If we get something wrong, we correct the page directly and note material changes rather than quietly deleting the content.

Use of AI
We use AI tools for drafting support, summarization, and our on-site assistant, Professor Roofowl. AI output is never published as-is: a human editor verifies figures, edits for accuracy and tone, and takes responsibility for the final page. Assistant answers are clearly labeled as automated guidance, not professional inspection or legal advice.
Advertising and independence
Advertising, affiliate partnerships, and contractor memberships never influence editorial conclusions, rankings, or cost figures. Advertisers cannot buy a recommendation, review score, or placement inside a guide. See how we make money and our affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
What we do not publish
- Auto-generated filler pages, tag archives, or content with no useful information.
- Fabricated reviews, testimonials, certifications, or guarantees.
- Legal, insurance, or engineering advice โ we point you to licensed professionals.
